Cardinals down Great Lakes Christian.
Tuesday evening, February 11th, the Cardinals headed to Lansing, MI to take on the Lakes of Great Lakes Christian College. The Cardinals earned their 13th consecutive win with the victory over the Lakes, 90-65.
Great Lakes visited the Cardinals earlier this season at home, but fell to the Cardinals 90-59. The first half of their matchup last night led the teams to believe this one would be a lot closer. The Lakes came out shooting hot from downtown in the first half, hitting 6 of 13 three-point attempts. Their shooters shooting 4-6 feet behind the three-point line made it difficult for the Cardinals to defend the perimeter. However, the Cardinals would keep the game close with good inside defense and multiple consecutive fast break points. The half would end with the Cardinals up by 3 points.
The Cardinals made some adjustments for the second half and took advantage of the Great Lakes full court press. The Cardinals were able to find the open spots and get 20+ second half points from breaking the Lakes full court press. The second half was very lopsided with the Cardinals outscoring Great Lakes, 51-29. They would also out rebound the Lakes 43-26 while forcing 16 turnovers. The speed and skill of the Cardinals would prove to be too much for the Lakes and the Cardinals secured their 13th consecutive win, 90-65.
Tyler Wooldridge led all scorers with 27 points and dished out 7 assists. Freshman forward Robert Moon posted 20 points, 9 boards, and 6 steals. Junior Orelus added 17 points and 6 assists. Matthew Little chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds.
The Cardinals will head to Chicago, IL on Thursday to take on Moody Bible College at 7pm CST.
