As the fall season approaches, excitement is building at Andrews University for the second-ever season of the Cardinals Women's Volleyball Team. Head Coach Richie Silie is especially energized and optimistic about the progress and potential of this young program. After a strong showing in their inaugural season, there's a lot to look forward to and even more to cheer for.
Last season, the Cardinals impressed fans and competitors alike by securing four victories against seasoned public and private university programs, a remarkable achievement for a brand-new team. "I'm extremely proud of how our team performed in our first season," says Coach Silie. "The players brought heart, discipline, and a competitive spirit every time they stepped on the court. We laid a strong foundation, and now we're building on that momentum."
Although some key standouts players from last season will be missed, such as Jordyn McClean and Jeanshy Erazo, the team will continue to develop with the return of various key players from last season, along with an exciting group of new recruits joining the squad this fall. Coach Silie is looking forward to molding this mix of experience and fresh talent into a unified and dynamic team. "There's a lot of potential in this group, and I can't wait to get everyone on campus and in the gym. We're aiming even higher this year."
As the Cardinals prepare to make their mark in year two, the athletic department is calling on the entire Andrews University community to rally behind the team. Whether you're a student, faculty member, alum, or local resident your support matters. Home games will be filled with energy, teamwork, and determination, and your presence in the stands can help fuel the team's drive and confidence.
So mark your calendars, grab your red and black, and get ready to show your Cardinal pride. Let's fill the bleachers and make some noise as we support the Andrews University Women's Volleyball Team this fall!
Go Cardinals!
